I have made Yoga a priority in my life. In doing so I have seen many different styles and been to many different studios. Even though I do not consider myself a Hot Yoga enthusiast I find I am drawn to Solar Yoga again and again. The Richter's are an amazing family whom make you feel at home each time you walk in for class. The class selection encompasses many different styles and all levels of practice. Solar's 30 day challenge literally changed my life. I recommend Solar Yoga to any one whom will listen!

Thanks for all you do...Namaste,

I love the fact that I can do an exercise program on daily basis with my 75 year old dad. You can do the program at any level or shape and form, no pressure. My back and knee pain have subsided and no acne anymore, which I think it has to do with the intense sweating. thank you. (5 of 6 stars)

This is the only yoga studio I have joined. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend beginners attending this studio if they are nervous about staring their practice. They have all been very helpful and supportive.

I have been taking yoga for about three and a half years now. I have suffered with depression and insomnia for almost 20 years. Last year, with the ok from my doctor (always get the doctor’s ok) I was able to get off my medicine for insomnia that I had been on for over 15 years. I have slept better this last year than the combined 15 years together on my meds. Yeah!!

Yoga has truly been a God-send for me. I sleep, suffer so much less from my depression and am a very happy person MOST days!

The other gifts of yoga have been flexibility, much less stress, I am able to live in the present moment more often (this may not seem like a big deal; however, if you have worried about everything since you were 10 years old, it is HUGE).

I would recommend Solar Yoga to anyone who has ever had issues with arthritis, any kind of pain, has a hard time working out, or anyone who just wants to feel better. I can honestly say that yoga has brought me much closer to God.

Thank you so much for the inversion workshop yesterday, it was a wonderful class. Normally, when we pair up in class,,,I kind of think..."oh no!"... but, I have to say I really enjoyed it and getting to know one other student and seeing common fears and problems was a positive thing. It's nice to be in touch like that with others in the class and I think it will become easier and easier for me.

I wrote a note to you and your family back when I first began practicing and I feel the need to do that once again. With every "thank you" I say after class, you have no idea what goes along with that word of thanks. The power and benefits and inner happy feelings that come along with it are tremendous. Like everyone else, yes, there is a life off the yoga mat, and along with that comes the stresses of our everyday lives. But, when I walk through the doors of Solar Yoga, I feel safe and happy and downright joyful! That is due of course to wonderful yoga, but also to all of the dedicated teachers who help make my day always better. I think every person in the world should take yoga! The world would be a more beautiful place! Many times, teachers will talk of letting go of competition and it has struck me many, many times how proud I am to be working out in a room full of strong, healthy, happy women. I just love that! (sorry, guys, it's a girl thing) I'm so glad I picked Solar Yoga,,,,what a blessing.

In gratitude,

I don’t usually talk about why I do yoga or what yoga means to me, but I saw the poster in the locker room asking for testimonials and I wanted everyone to know how classes at Solar Yoga have helped me through a difficult time in my life. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful yoga community.

When I first started classes at Solar Yoga, I was positive that I could do anything that they asked. I would be a yoga goddess. I knew I would be standing in a hot room sweating and maneuvering my body in to positions that were elegant and pretzel-like at the same time. I was totally convinced that serenity and enlightenment would come after only a few classes and I would be a beacon of enlightenment for the world and promote peace and harmony. Then I took my first class and thought that I would not live to see the end of the class. My dream of being a yoga goddess came to a crashing halt. Fortunately for me, my yoga goddess quest has turned out quite differently than I envisioned. My goddess quest has been fraught with frustration, pain, anger and, yes, lots of resistance on my part. It has also been filled with encouragement, caring, acceptance and best of all, lots of laughter.

In my naïve approach to become a yoga goddess, I was very serious and powered my way through the poses, going all out in every class, trying every advanced posture and class, pushing my body to the limit time and time again, ignoring that little voice that was saying “ouch, that hurts, maybe you should back off.” I would ignore that voice and carry on as if nothing was wrong. There is always Advil and ice to take care of the pain, right?

Then one day, the unthinkable happened all at once, I was diagnosed with tendinitis in my elbows and shoulders, arthritis in my wrists and thumbs, and to add insult to injury, arthritis in my left knee. After being ignored for so long, my body stopped whispering and starting shouting “ENOUGH!” In one fell swoop, I had to give up the massage therapy career I loved for 5 years, walking in road races and for exercise and pushing to my body to its very limits. I was devastated. I lived in denial for some time, but finally had to face the fact that my life had to change and I may never be a yoga goddess.

When I finally stopped fighting myself and starting listening to my body, I started hearing the things that all of those wonderful yoga teachers at Solar Yoga were saying: “let go of any expectations you have”; “this is your practice”; “listen to your body”; “do what is best for you today” and my favorite and most frustrating “take comfort in the discomfort”. I used to hear that and think what, are they crazy? How am I supposed to do that? How can you take comfort in the discomfort?? But as I struggled through the pain, the disappointment and the anger of my injuries, I began to notice that there was comfort within the discomfort. The most comfort that I found was that I could walk into Solar Yoga, no matter what mood I was in, and there was a place for me to put my mat and a teacher to guide me through my practice. I could leave my emotional baggage outside of the room and have the opportunity to find joy and laughter in what I was doing. I could go to class and do whatever I could and that was okay and even encouraged! It didn’t matter if I did a beautiful downward facing dog or not. Every teacher was there, encouraging me to do what was best for that day and to let go of any expectations I may have. They offered their guidance and assured me that no matter what happens, it was okay and I was okay. They allowed me to find the best practice and path for my true yoga goddess to start emerging.

I wanted to let everyone at Solar Yoga know how grateful I am to have found such a wonderful, comfortable, caring place to practice yoga. I always feel better after going to class and have slowly found ways to bring this feeling of calm and happiness to my life off the yoga mat. Thank you for creating such welcoming and joyful yoga community. Thank you for helping me see that no matter what happens, I am okay and that I really can be a yoga goddess.
